The cost per square meter for a parking spot is often higher than for an office space.Parking is a scarce commodity even though statistically, there are almost 3parking spaces for each car. In business districts or city centers, the parking spaces are often very limited, and it seems like there is never a parking spot when you need it.
In the pre-covid times, most employees spent Monday to Friday in the office; a handful of parking spaces were typically dedicated only to the senior staff members. The rest of the employees had no or extremely limited access to parking. However, the hybrid model of working changed the rules. Currently, most people go to the office only 1-2x per week, hence they use their parking slots only rarely. At the same time, the availability of remote work also enabled people to move out of the cities, increasing the necessity to commute by car when they go to the office.
